Wrinkle Relaxers (Neuromodulators)

Some common Neuromodulators are Botox, Dsyport and Xeomin

Q: How Do Neuromodulators Work?

Frown lines form when facial expressions are made as the muscle under the skin contracts. Over time, as your skin ages, these repeated expressions cause lasting frown lines. Neurotoxins, such as XEOMIN®, are prescription medications that block the release of chemicals that cause these muscle contractions. So frown lines are softened

Q: How many units?

Neuromodulators can be injected in the forehead, between the eyebrows, around the eyes, the chin, jawline, neck, and therapeutic injections for migraine, TMJ disorders, & teeth grinding. Units will vary patient to patient. Some may need more than the minimum dosage required.

Q:  Where can it be injected?

Neuromodulators can be injected in the forehead, between the eyebrows, around the eyes, the chin, and jaw area.

Q:  How long does it last?

Results can last for 3 – 4 months. With continued treatment, sometimes products can last 4 – 6 months. Individual results may vary.

Q:  How long will it take to see results?

You will start to notice improvement in 3-5 days, but the maximum benefit is seen 2 weeks from injection.

Q:  Will I still be able to make facial expressions?

Yes.  Although results are visible, a treatment will not radically change your appearance. The muscles that are not treated are not affected, allowing normal facial expression.

Q:  Are there any side effects?

There can be side effects with any treatment you have done. Side effects from neuromodulators are usually minimal and temporary. They may include localized pain, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, bleeding and/or bruising, or infection. The experienced Aesthetic Registered Nurse will review all side effects and risks with you at your consultation and answer any questions you may have before the treatment is started.

Q:  Is it painful?

Client experience and comfort is of the utmost importance. Topical is always used for every injection to minimize any slight discomfort of the injection.

Q:  How much do I need?

The quantity depends on the area(s) to be treated. Brilyn does a complimentary consultation with our clients prior to the injection, where you can discover the best treatment plan for you and your personal skin type. Typically people need anywhere from 20 – 50 units, depending on the area they want to treat. Pricing is done per unit and is presented before treatment begins.

Q:  How long does the treatment take?

Your first visit will take 30 – 45 minutes. This includes the consultation, paperwork, consent forms, and time for any questions you may have, as well as the injection(s) itself. Follow-up appointments take approximately 10 – 15 minutes. Most patients are in and out of the office without downtime following the injections.

Q: Which Neuromodulator is your favorite?

I am in favor of Xeomin. XEOMIN® is made through a unique precision manufacturing process that isolates the therapeutic component of the molecule and removes the “accessory proteins” that don’t play an active role in treatment and does not trigger your body’s immune system. XEOMIN® is a highly purified neurotoxin.
