As you age, your skin’s elasticity begins to decrease, which can lead to wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin. The prospect of permanent furrows on your forehead or crow’s feet by your eyes is not one that many people look forward to. Fortunately, dermal fillers can be used to reverse common signs of aging.
Q: How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
A loss of hyaluronic acid and collagen is one of the reasons that skin elasticity decreases as we age. Sun exposure, lifestyle choices, weight, and hereditary factors are other reasons that your skin might be more prone to wrinkles and early symptoms of aging.
Dermal fillers can be used to help reduce fine lines, wrinkles, furrows, sagging skin, and other signs of aging. Dermal fillers can also be used to restore hyaluronic acid levels within your skin. These injections are used to hydrate, soften, and increase the volume of your skin. The result is younger, healthier, fuller, and tighter skin that will leave you looking and feeling confident.
Q: How long does it last?
The effects of dermal fillers can last from 6-18 months, depending on many factors. The type of fillers that are used, the lifestyle and care of the patient, and the area being treated, can all affect the efficacy and length of results.
Q: How long will it take to see results?
You will see improvement immediately, swelling is normal for the first 48 hours, but the maximum benefit is seen 2 weeks from injection.
Q: Will I still be able to make facial expressions?
Yes. Although results are visible, a treatment will not radically change your appearance but to restore. The goal is to enhance your own features but look refreshed and natural.
Q: Are there any side effects?
There can be side effects with any treatment you have done. Side effects from neuromodulators are usually minimal and temporary. They may include localized pain, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, bleeding and/or bruising, or infection. The experienced Aesthetic Registered Nurse will review all side effects and risks with you at your consultation and answer any questions you may have before the treatment is started.
Q: Is it painful?
Topical is always used for every injection to minimize any slight discomfort of the injection.
Q: How much do I need?
The quantity depends on the area(s) to be treated. Brilyn does a complimentary consultation with our clients prior to the injection, where you can discover the best treatment plan for you and your personal skin type. Typically people need anywhere from 1-3 syringes, depending on the area they want to treat. Pricing is done per syringe and is presented before treatment begins.
Q: How long does the treatment take?
Your first visit will take 30 – 45 minutes. This includes the consultation, paperwork, consent forms, and time for any questions you may have, as well as the injection(s) itself. Most patients are in and out of the office without downtime following the injections.
